THE LAST OF US – REDESIGN

ROLE: Sound Design, Recording, Mixing, Mastering.

ABOUT:
A post-apocalyptic narrative where nature reclaims the remnants of human civilisation, blurring the line between the wild and urban.

Concept

In this sound redesign, I explored the fading boundary between urban life and wilderness in the wake of humanity’s collapse.

The Soundscape focuses on how nature reclaims space and how to narrate a natural migration. The ambient soundscape consists of a blend between birds native to US city environments and species that could plausibly return to a rewilded city, such as treefrogs, cicadas, and mosquitoes.

Inspired by the immersive soundscapes of Red Dead Redemption 2, where each environment is rich with localisable fauna, I aimed to achieve a similar level of immersion and environmental storytelling in this scene from The Last of Us.
